A Smash Burger (hi shake shack!) and a taco had a lovechild! Exciting things are happening, for sure. Once the fat is rendered out of the ground beef, you flip it over, and let your tortillas sizzle up in the beef fat, as a slice of processed, garishly yellow American cheddar melts lazily on top... These viral Big Mac/Smash Burger Tacos are definitely worth a try. Go for it.

Ingredients

  • Sauce
  • 80g mayo

  • 1 teaspoon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 Tablespoon minced onion

  • 1 Tablespoon minced cucumber pickles

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Other Ingredients
  • 250g ground minced meat

  • sliced cheese

  • Tortillas, about 4

  • shredded lettuce (optional)

  • pickles (optional)

  • salt & pepper

Directions

  • For the Sauce
  • Mix all the ingredients for your sauce together. Taste and adjust for seasoning. Set Aside.
  • To make the tacos
  • Portion out an appropriate amount of meat onto each tortilla. It's easier if you start with a ball/round of meat, slowly pressing it towards the edge of the tortilla. Season the meat with salt and pepper.
  • To Cook
  • Heat a large saucepan over medium heat, trickle in some oil.
  • Place your tortillas on the saucepan, meat side down. Let the meat cook and sear, then flip over.
  • Reduce the heat to low, and add a slice of cheddar cheese. The tortillas will sizzle up in the rendered beef fat.
  • Remove from heat once cooked through and cheese is melted.
  • Drizzle over some of the sauce, and add some shredded lettuce and pickles. Serve!
